Aussies in Spain. A month in the Mountains!

Ken, Adam, Margie, Sue and Reg on top of Mulhacén 3482m Sept 2012

This August and September we had a full month of walking and trekking in the best of Spain´s mountain ranges with 22 Aussies from Queensland.  First we trekked 8 days along the Pyrenean High Route from Etsaut to Torla, then we explored the Picos de Europa before heading to Ávila and the Sierra de Grédos.  Finally we headed South to walk in the Alpujarras crowning the trip by going up Mulhacén 3482 metres- the highest mountain on the Spanish mainland.  We also managed to fit in some wonderful stays in Madrid, Bilbao, Ávila, Antequera and Granada.

A nicer group of folks would be hard to find!  Easygoing, tough, up for anything and full of life and curiosity.  Thanks to all of you for making it such a fantastic month.  Special thanks to walking guide authors John and Lynn Daly of Take a Walk Publications for getting such a great group of people together and for all their help and support before and during the trip.  Thanks also to the weather gods who let it rain on us for just 10 minutes in the whole month!
